Wild At Heart Series 5 Episode Guide

Danny and Alice’s project to rehabilitate a group of circus elephants has been a huge success but now they have too many elephants at Leopard’s Den and urgently need to move the circus herd to the National Park. There’s only one hitch - they need to go through Mara land which means talking to Vanessa and Rowan. As the two reserves are still on bad terms, Danny and Alice are surprised when Rowan helpfully agrees but he has an ulterior motive.

Episode 2

When Danny hurts his back he begins to have a crisis about his age. Danny and Alice are surprised when Vanessa comes to them for advice. Rowan has employed a hot-shot new vet called Lewis and between them they have come up with the idea of “green hunting”. Danny is concerned that commerce and animals do not mix; even if the only animals darted by hunters are those in need of treatment.

Episode 3

Mara is hosting a beauty pageant and Rowan realises he needs all the publicity he can get. He buys a tiger from a zoo and convinces Alice that he plans to rehabilitate it. Alice is enjoying working with her brother and event defends him to Danny. Danny is wrapped up with his own work in the township and the two are at odds with both feeling their own project is more important.

Episode 4

Danny and Alice have been preparing a cheetah, Ngotsi, for release into the wild but Danny’s mind isn’t on the job. He’s been pre-occupied with thoughts of buying a ring and proposing to Alice. Meanwhile, a strange girl has turned up at Mara asking lots of questions about Alice. It’s clear there’s trouble in store when the girl reveals she is Olivia, Danny’s step daughter.

Episode 5

Danny and Alice are taking a well deserved mini break but Olivia is upset to learn they are leaving that day. Angry at missing out on a driving lesson, she decides to take the jeep out on her own. When she crashes it, none of the family believes her protests that it was an accident.

Episode 6

Danny’s attempt to help Alice settle into her new job at Mara backfire when a hyena goes on the rampage. With the life of an animal in the balance, Danny realises that he must pull out all the stops if he is to salvage his relationship with Alice. Meanwhile, Alice discovers that Rowan and Vanessa have been seeing each other in secret.

Episode 7

With matters between him and Alice still tense, a distracted Danny makes a fatal mistake while treating a rare black leopard. When the big cat dies, its owner insists that Danny is investigated for malpractice. Hearing the bad news, Du Plessis decides to look into the matter in order to exonerate his friend.

Episode 8

With Danny’s career in Tatters, the family’s plan to keep him busy with a group of young offenders backfires when one of them takes a shine to Olivia. And Rowan has an explosive secret that could tear the family apart.

Episode 9

There are dangerous consequences when Du Pleiss ignores his heart condition and collapses whilst alone in the bush. Danny gets more than he bargained for when he has to deal with two rogue lions that are attacking local cattle.

Episode 10

In the final epiosode, Du Plessis (Deon Stewardson) is restless after his heart surgery but the family insist he needs to relax. Meanwhile Danny (Stephen Tompkinson) and Alice (Dawn Steele) are happy to have closed down a zoo down that has been mistreating animals.
