Top Telly - ITV's series: Rosemary & Thyme

Rosemary & Thyme starred Felicity Kendal and Pam Ferris as gardening detectives Rosemary Boxer and Laura Thyme. The show ran for three series between 31st August 2003 and 6th August 2007.

The programme mixed a gardening theme with crimes that the sleuths stumble across both in the UK and overseas. Indeed, they were incredibly unlucky in the number of murders they witnessed!

The show ran to 22 episodes - 20 60 minutes episodes and 2 120 minute specials. The opening theme is a variation on the Scarborough Fair tune.

The series is set in a number of beautiful country gardens which the partners in a gardening business frequently find out are crime scenes.

Laura Thyme is a former policewoman whose husband has left for a younger woman and Rosemary Boxer is a plant biology lecturer whose academic career has been cut short. A sudden death brought them together and they turn their shared interest in gardening into a business. They are good friends and did not expect to be involved in more detective work.

The first episode finds Rosemary Boxer investigating diseased trees at the home of an old friend Laura Thyme who is recovering from a recent divorce. They find themselves staying in the same hotel and together they uncover a sinister plot concerning Rosemary’s ill friend.
