Homepage Mr Eleven

From the East End to Hollywood, Michelle Ryan and Sean Maguire return to the UK to star in a romantic comedy drama for ITV1

Did you know that on average British woman will marry their 11th sexual partner? But does Mr Eleven always equal Mr Right?

MICHELLE RYAN (Bionic Woman, EastEnders), SEAN MAGUIRE (Meet The Spartans, EastEnders) and ADAM GARCIA (Wicked, Coyote Ugly) form a love triangle driven by one woman’s obsession with numbers in MR ELEVEN, a romantic comedy drama from Tiger Aspect.

A strong supporting cast includes LYNDA BELLINGHAM, OLIVIA COLEMAN (Peep Show, Green Wing), DENIS LAWSON (Bleak House, Jekyll), NICHOLAS BURNS (Benidorm, Nathan Barley) and PREEYA KALIDAS (Britz, Bodies).

The love of her life?

Schoolteacher Saz Paley’s (Ryan) love life is driven not by her heart, but by an obsession with numbers. On her wedding day Saz couldn’t be more certain that she has found the love of her life – heart-throb, A&E doctor and all round Mr Perfect, Dan (Maguire). Better than that, he is Mr Statistical Right - Mr Eleven.

Until she finds out that Mr Eleven is actually Mr Ten. A sexual conquest she had counted is revealed to be a near miss on her wedding day. Handsome Aussie Alex (Garcia) turns up unexpectedly as an old friend’s ‘plus one’. Alex was Saz’s Mr Nine. Until he confesses that she passed out before the deed was done. He’s Mr Nearly. Dan has just dropped from Mr Eleven to Mr Ten.

Obsession

Sarah ‘Saz’ Paley is a high school teacher obsessed with statistics both inside and outside the classroom. She’s found her perfect man – dishy doctor Dan, her Mr Eleven. She’s just about to settle down to a life of marital bliss when an ex one night stand Alex shows up at her wedding reception as her friend Leanne’s partner and reveals that their drunken night of passion never actually involved any sex as she crashed out drunk before they’d got to second base. And just like that, her Mr Eleven has dropped to Mr Ten and her Mr Nine has become her Mr Nearly and her formerly perfectly ordered world has descended into chaos.

Saz’s whole love life has been driven not by her heart, but by an obsession with numbers, and now the statistics don’t add up Saz is terrified that she and Dan can never live happily ever after. With disarming honesty after a failed attempt to consummate their marriage, she admits as much to Dan. An argument quickly spirals and, before long, Dan has admitted to sleeping with the sexy Spanish Registrar at the hospital where he works – Alicia – in the early days of their dating. Saz thinks they were exclusive from April, Dan thinks it was July. Saz is not amused.

And so on the eve of their dream honeymoon, it all falls horribly apart. The happiest day of Saz’s life ends in her moving back in with her mum Shirley and step-dad Len. Along with her sister Beth, the family despair of Saz, leaving her feeling more wretched than ever. The situation is not helped by Alex, newly aware of her single status and keen to make another attempt at being Saz’s Mr Nine, or Mr Eleven as he would now be. Despite the fact that he is still dating her friend Leanne.

As Saz goes into freefall, Mr One through to Eight are reflected upon as both Dan and Alex wait to see if the course of true love can outsmart the statistics…

Romantic comedy

Victoria Fea, Commissioning Executive at ITV, said: “Not only is this a colourful, contemporary romantic comedy by the fantastic Amanda Coe but it is also a perfect opportunity to entice two of our most exciting young Hollywood converts to return to our screens in a classically British love story, supported, of course, by a stellar cast of favourite TV faces.”

MR ELEVEN is a two-part drama and is written by Amanda Coe (Shameless, As If, Elizabeth David), directed by Paul Gay (Skins, Whistleblowers) and produced by Nicola Larder. The Executive Producer at Tiger Aspect is Richard Fell.
