HomepageUS Imports ► Flash Forward

When a mysterious global event causes everyone to blackout simultaneously for two minutes and seventeen seconds exactly. In that time, everyone glimpses their life six months from now. When they wake up, everyone is left reeling, wondering if what they saw will actually happen…

Some of what they see is not pretty it has to be said, with adultery, alcoholism and murder all featuring among the premonitions. But don’t worry, FBI agent Mark Benford, played by Joseph Fiennes, and his partner Demetri Noh, (American Pie’s John Cho) are determined to get to the bottom of the mystery.

An FBI team overseen by Assistant Director Stanford Wedeck begin the task of uncovering what happened and whether it will happen again.  FBI agent Mark Benford saw the results of their investigation six months on in his flash forward and they use clues from his memory to get started.  Early clues include “Suspect Zero” who was walking around during the blackout, the sinister “D Gibbons”, the death of many crows and a smaller loss of consciousness in Somalia in 1991.  They set up a website called the “Mosaic Collective” so that the public can post the details of their flash forwards.  They use software to collate the information to see where different people’s visions support one another.

The visions included the Mark seeing his alcoholism back, his wife sees herself conducting an affair and others have no flash forward as they will not be alive on 29th April 2010 at 10pm.

The was considerable loss of life when the event happened as cars with unconscious drivers collide and planes fell from the sky and crashed into buildings.  The Americans are suspicious of the Chinese as whilst the US was badly hurt, they were asleep at the time and suffered little.

The series is based on the novel of the same name written by Robert J Sawyer.  The series was made by ABC and each episode lasts an hour.   The star-studded cast includes Joseph Fiennes  and John Cho, there’s also This Life and Coupling actor Jack Davenport, Lost’s Dominic Monaghan and Law & Order’s Courtney B Vance.
