Homepage ► Outcasts

Created by Ben Richards (Spooks, The Fixer, Party Animals), Outcasts is set on a recently-discovered planet and tells of the dilemmas, loves and lives of a group of people setting up a new world.  The action starts a year after their arrival.

The outcasts

In return for their "liberty", a group of social misfits and criminals are sent to be the pioneers of a large new settlement on a near planet in 2040.   They are led by President Tate played by Liam Cunningham (Clash Of The Titans) who runs Carpathia who is dedicated to keeping the human species alive with his core team of Stella Isen , Head of Protection and Security (PAS) who sacrificed everything for the chance to save the world played by Hermione Norris (Spooks), Cass Cromwell,  unpredictable PAS officer played by Daniel Mays and Fleur Morgan played by Amy Manson who is a young, bright and idealistic PAS officer. They took charge and settled here first alongside Expeditionaries Mitchell Holban, Head of the Expeditionaries played by Jamie Bamber (Battlestar Gallactica) and Jack, Mitchell’s second in command played by  Ashley Walters (Small Island).

Other outcasts

Other characters are Julius Berger played by Eric Mabius (Ugly Betty) - Vice President of the Evacuation Programme on Earth. Berger is en route to Carpathia on board transporter CT9, expecting the power and status he enjoyed on Earth. Michael Legge (Shameless) is Irish charmer Tipper Malone; a rebel who speaks out against the authorities representing the voice of the displaced youth.  Langley Kirkwood (Generation Kill) is leader of the ACs, a group of cloned human beings and one of Carpathia's darkest secrets.  Patrick Lyster (Invictus) is the dignified and brave commander of transporter CT9 and Jeanne Kietzmann is Lily – lost, troubled and seeking answers.

Episode 1

Viewers meet the characters at a moment of incredible anticipation. They've lost all contact with Earth but the arrival of the last known transporter signals fresh hopes and dreams. Will Stella's husband and daughter, who she heartbreakingly left behind, be on board?

Episode 2

News of a missing survival shuttle sends Cass, Fleur and Jack outside the settlement in search of Stella’s daughter, only to find that something or someone has got there first.  Stella and Tate are confronted both by their old foe Julius Berger and the accusations made against him by the young woman from the transporter.

Episode 3

Reports predict that a super whiteout of unprecedented strength could hit Forthaven. Stella draws on Tipper's mathematical ability to predict exactly when the whiteout will strike and Tate begins to lock down Forthaven. Fleur, unaware of the whiteout threat, takes the AC baby back to Rudi.

Episode 4

A rogue AC enters Forthaven and attacks a citizen, prompting the PAS officers to take action in an effort to control the situation. However, the assignment prompts Fleur to question everything the settlement stands for.

Episode 5

A man shows up in a bar in Forthaven with a fistful of diamonds and stories of "bodies" outside the settlement. The man claims to live by Carpathia's ocean, which seems impossible as it's been marked as a radiation hotspot, uninhabitable by human life.

Episode 6

Three expeditionaries go missing outside the settlement for two days. As hope of finding them dwindles one of them, Josie Hunter, walks back into the settlement. Josie is reunited with her family and Forthaven celebrates her return. However, she is different – her children can't communicate with her and reports of her attack on a fellow XP outside the perimeter start to filter through.

Episode 7

Tate is now convinced that there is a superior host force on Carpathia and Stella is determined to work out a way to communicate with it, in the penultimate episode of the blockbuster sci-fi series.  Cass finds a note threatening to expose his true identity

Episode 8

When a new, deadly virus hits Forthaven, Tate and Stella fear that it's the host force answering their attempts at communication.  Berger blames the virus on the ACs and, after revealing a devastating secret about Fleur, sets about bringing down Tate's government and introducing a new order.
